Milepost 53 - Chloride, Arizona was founded in 1862 with the discovery of silver ore and is an old mining camp that never quite died. At one time there was over 72 mines operating in and around Chloride.

The name Chloride came from the silver chloride found in the hills among other minerals in the area. Silver chloride is used in photographic emulsions and antiseptic silver solutions. Chloride is the oldest continuously inhabited mining town in the state of Arizona.

Chloride is a peaceful village of about 400 people in the northwest corner of Arizona. There are roughly 350 sunshine days a year in the high desert altitude of 4,009 feet in the Cerbat Mountains.

The climate is perfect for the southwest lifestyle. There is a small roadside market and lunch facility named the Grass Hopper Junction on the west side of the road along Route 93 at Milepost 53

Milepost 50 - Big Wash Road twists up to the crest of the Cerbat Mountains, it is gravel and not too steep. You can enjoy expansive views, picnicking, camping, and hiking among pinyon pine and chaparral. Packsaddle Recreation Area lies nine miles in, and the Windy Point Recreation Area entrance is 1.5 miles beyond
Milepost 46 - Cottonwood Road leads back to a nice fishing area on Lake Mohave.
Pierce Ferry Road - This is the road to Dolan Springs, Meadview, South Cove, and Grand Canyon West Skywalk. The Grand Canyon Ranch Resort can also be found back this road.
